 ESLC and local citizens group to host free Planning Workshop
Cambridge, Maryland March 11, 2008Eastern Shore Land Conservancy (ESLC) and Dorchester Citizens for Planned Growth (DCPG) will hold a Citizens Workshop about the planning and development process. The three-hour workshop will be held at the Cambridge Empowerment Center located at 614 Pine Street from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., on March 29.  The following topics will be covered:

  • The planning process and how it relates to growth management, its effect on the bay, and the fundamentals of land preservation.
  • The critical role of the public land use planning;
  • Hands-on development review activities;
  • How to build connections to be more engaged with others in the community on planning and development issues; and
  • Resources to help citizens have a stronger role in shaping their local community.

“This planning workshop is a great opportunity for residents to learn about the planning and development process and how it affects their everyday lives,” said Amy Owsley, ESLC’s Director of Land Use Planning. “Every citizen's voice is needed so that the development decisions made today reflect what we want for the lives of our children and grandchildren."

Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.  Childcare will be provided by a State Certified Child Care Provider. Space is limited so registration is strongly encouraged. Please click here for a full workshop agenda.

A registration form may be downloaded here. Interested citizens can also register by calling ESLC Regional Land Use Planner John Seward at 410-310-6093, or at jseward@eslc.org.
