There are a variety of ways to financially contribute to Eastern Shore Land Conservancy’s mission to conserve, steward, and advocate for the unique rural landscape of Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Supporters can:
Donate Now or Set Up an Automatic Recurring Gift.
We offer secure online giving but, if you prefer, you can also download a mail-in gift form. Alternately, make a donation over the phone by calling Sam Pugh at 410-227-8182. Recurring donations are a wonderful way to make a large impact in smaller increments. Donations of all sizes are important to Eastern Shore Land Conservancy.
Donate Stock.
When you give appreciated securities, you can avoid paying capital gains taxes, receive a tax deduction on the full value of the gift, and support Eastern Shore Land Conservancy at a lower cost to you than if you made a cash gift. Leave a Legacy.
Create a lasting conservation legacy by naming Eastern Shore Land Conservancy as a beneficiary in your will or living trust, life insurance, or retirement accounts. It’s easy to do and it costs nothing during your lifetime. If you decide to do this, please let us know by sending in a bequest intention form. Another way to leave a legacy is to invest in Eastern Shore Land Conservancy now and receive income for life. Legacy gifts can provide you or your estate with important tax benefits too. Contribute through Donor Advised Funds.
A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is a type of giving mechanism that allows donors to combine the most favorable tax benefits with the flexibility to easily support their charities. If you benefit from a DAF, please make checks payable to Eastern Shore Land Conservancy, attention Melissa Canoni, Director of Development, 114 S. Washington St., Easton, MD 21601. Give from an IRA.
If you are age 70½ and older, you can donate up to $100,000 directly to Eastern Shore Land Conservancy from your individual retirement accounts (IRAs) without it being counted as taxable income. The gift can be used as your required minimum distribution. Your financial institution needs to issue the check directly to us, and the gift must be made by December 31 of the tax year. Contact your provider or visit their website to obtain a simple form to fill out.

Donate Real Estate.
Another way to have a significant impact is to donate real estate. In some cases, we may accept donations of property that has conservation value, as well as smaller lots and homes that may be sold to fund future conservation. Giving real estate can be a current strategy, or part of your legacy. ESLC offers an online portal where donors can track, and manage past, current, and future gifts to Eastern Shore Land Conservancy. The portal can also be used to update contact information and download tax documents.
