I serve on ESLC’s board because I hope that my experience can contribute to good decision making. ESLC is an important organization on the Upper Shore because we need to have good policies and practices in place to preserve and enhance the distinctive character of this rural community that is an hour and a half from three major cities. I think that we often forget to appreciate the uniqueness of the culture of the Shore. Like Southwest Louisiana, coastal Maine, or Lowcountry South Carolina, the Shore has its own identity that will only survive if we both preserve the past and embrace the future.

Now retired from his role as the Managing Director and Head of Transportation Investment Banking at Wells Fargo, Eric Schless is ESLC’s Board of Directors Treasurer and Chair of the Budget, Finance, and Investment Committee. Raised in New York and Connecticut, Schless received a B.A. from the University of Virginia and J.D. from Washington and Lee School of Law and went on to work as both an investment banker and as a corporate lawyer. In addition to serving on the boards of the Sultana Education Foundation, Saint Paul’s Kent, and the Chino Hunt Club, Schless enjoys waterfowl and upland bird hunting, boating, and writing. Schless and his family now live in Kent County on a Langford Creek farm that dates back to 1695.
