Victoria Jackson-Stanley

The Choptank River where it flows under the Malkus Bridge is one of my favorite places. The sight and sound of the water is so peaceful for me. I love living on the Eastern Shore not just because it is my birthplace, it is the most beautiful place God has formed.

Born and raised in Cambridge, Victoria Jackson-Stanley earned a Bachelor’s of Social Work from Salisbury State College (now Salisbury University) and a Master’s of Social Work from Howard University. In addition to working with various Departments of Social Services on the Eastern Shore, Jackson-Stanley has served three terms as the Mayor of Cambridge and was Cambridge’s first African-American and first female Mayor in the 324 years since the city’s founding. She has volunteered her time with many boards, councils, and community organizations, including the Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay, the Chesapeake College Board of Trustees, the Salvation Army’s advisory board, Habitat for Humanity, the Mid-Shore Mediation Committee, Waugh Chapel United Methodist Church, and the Maryland Mayors Association. Jackson-Stanley was named the Cambridge Branch Rotary International Public Servant of the Year in 2009 and the William Donald Schaefer Award-Comptroller of Maryland in 2015. She enjoys cooking, singing, and traveling, and currently lives in Cambridge with her family.
